It depends on three things: whether you have free transport, whether you change flat in September and how much your time is worth. If you have a car, you're staying in Madrid and you're not changing flat, a 1 m² storage unit usually works out cheaper. If you leave for the summer and come back to a different home, pick-up pays off: 7 boxes, €273, with pick-up, storage, delivery and insurance.

How much does each cost, all in?
A storage unit is paid per square metre per month: 1 m² costs between €29 and €40 a month, and 4 m² between €99 and €248 according to the OCU. We charge per box for the whole summer: €45 for 1 to 4 boxes, €39 for 5 to 9, €36 for 10 to 15 and €33 for over 15. What changes the sum is what you don't see in the storage unit's price: transport.

When is a storage unit better?
When the transport is truly free and everything fits in 1 m²: a parent with a big car, a friend with a van. Also if you're staying in Madrid all summer and not changing flat, or if you'll need your things often. Then a storage unit is cheaper and more flexible, and there's no sense paying for a service you don't use.
Add up what doesn't appear on the invoice: the petrol, the favour you owe and loading again in September. If you change flat in September, the storage unit ends up far from your new home.
When does pick-up pay off?
When you vacate your residence in June, spend the summer away and come back to a different home. With a storage unit you need two deliveries, one in June and one in September; ours start at €79, so €87-120 for the storage unit plus two deliveries comes to €245-278, not counting the hours of loading and unloading. Pick-up is €273 with 7 boxes: in money they almost tie, and your time decides.
What if I need my things in July or August?
With a storage unit you open your unit during the centre's opening hours. With pick-up, your boxes are in our warehouse and you can't go in for them whenever you like. If you know you'll need something in the middle of summer, message us before booking and we'll talk it through; if you'll be going in often, the storage unit wins.

Frequently asked questions
What if I have few boxes?
Up to 4 boxes you pay €45 per box: a single one is €45 and four, €180. From 5 boxes it drops to €39. With few things and free transport, a 1 m² storage unit can work out cheaper.
What happens if I come back to Madrid and change flat?
It's the case where pick-up pays off most: in September you give us the address of the new flat and we deliver the boxes there. With a storage unit you'd have to go and get them yourself.
Does the insurance cover the real value of my things?
Our insurance is included in the price. Law 15/2009 sets a legal minimum per kilo for the carriage of goods, not the real value of your things: the sensible thing is not to put high-value items in the boxes.
