What you need to know about halls of residence.
In summer, your hall belongs to someone else.
- Why you have to empty it: the UCM publishes that its halls of residence offer short stays in June, July and September. That stay is booked separately: if you don't book it, your things can't stay.
- Each hall has its own rules: always check yours. Two published examples: the Colegio Mayor Universitario Barberán y Collar (affiliated to the UCM) requires in its 2026 Internal Rules that the room be left empty at the end of the academic year; the Colegio Mayor Fernando de los Ríos (UC3M Foundation, Getafe) allows you to leave belongings over the summer under certain conditions and without being responsible for their contents.
- What we do: we coordinate with the date your hall closes for the year and come up to your room. You don't bring anything down to the porter's lodge.

It takes a bit of effort, we won't pretend otherwise: heavy stuff at the bottom, and don't fill a whole box with books. We bring the kit to your door.

Close the door and that's it
We come up to your room on the day your hall closes for the year, and within an hour everything is loaded.

Between 15 August and 30 September, on the date you choose when booking. And if you've moved house, we'll bring it to the new place.
Won't be there that day? A flatmate or the porter can hand it over, depending on the case, if we arrange it beforehand with us and your hall of residence. And if you leave early, we also come first thing in the morning or at night.

We collect from 17 May to 30 July and bring it back from 15 August to 30 September. It's not a monthly fee: VAT, boxes, packing materials and pickup included. And you keep the boxes.

Insurance included. If you're storing something very valuable, tell us on WhatsApp before pickup. We never charge without telling you first. Free cancellation up to 14 days before pickup, with your €20 refunded. No paperwork: by booking you accept the terms of service.

Questions about halls of residence.
Do you collect inside the hall of residence?
Yes. We come up to your room, load up and take everything. You don't bring anything down to the porter's lodge.
When do I need to get my things out?
When your hall closes for the year. The UCM opens its halls of residence in June, July and September as short stays: if you don't book one, you have to move your things out beforehand. We coordinate with your date.
What if I renew my place for next year?
Each hall has its own rules: check yours. If you don't want to depend on them letting you leave things, we store them for you and bring them back when you're back, when and where you choose.
Are you the hall of residence's official service?
No. LetsBoxIt is an independent service and is not affiliated with any hall of residence.
Is the €39 per month?
No. It's a single payment per box for the whole summer (€39 is the per-box price for 5 to 9 boxes, the most common tier): we collect it between 17 May and 30 July and bring it back between 15 August and 30 September. A storage unit is paid every month; here, just once.
Do I have to be there when you collect?
Usually you will be there, but it isn't compulsory: if we arrange it beforehand with us and your hall of residence, a flatmate or the porter can hand it over, depending on the case. And if you leave first thing in the morning or at night, we can do that too.
How and when do I pay?
€20 when you book, deducted from the total (we refund it if you cancel up to 14 days before pickup). The rest on pickup day, for the boxes we actually take: by card or phone, on the spot. If you're not there or your parents are paying, we'll send you a payment link. We never charge without telling you first. On delivery, nothing.
What if I change house or plans when I'm back?
We'll bring it to whatever new address in Madrid you give us: another residence, a hall of residence or a flat. You choose the delivery date when you book and, if your plans change, message us on WhatsApp and we'll change it. If you're not coming back to Madrid, we can also ship it to another city or country: we'll give you the price on WhatsApp.
