Many residences ask for the room back at the end of June, and your things have to go somewhere until September. From what we see at end-of-term pick-ups, the least hassle is to have them collected at your door: €45 to €33 per box, a single payment for the whole summer, and when you're back we bring them to the address you choose. If you have a car and are staying in Madrid, a storage unit works too.
In short
- Check your contract for the move-out date: many residences set it at the end of June.
- The usual is between 5 and 9 boxes. With 7 boxes, the price is €273 for the whole summer.
- Per box: €45 (1-4), €39 (5-9), €36 (10-15) and €33 (over 15), VAT included. It's not monthly.
- You book with €20, which is deducted from the total. Free cancellation up to 14 days before.
How long do I need to store my things?
Normally from when you leave the residence, at the end of June, until you're back in September: two long months when your things need a safe place. With us we collect on the day you choose between 17 May and 30 July, and return between 15 August and 30 September. If you don't know yet where you'll be living, message us and we'll move the delivery date.
What we see most is leaving it to the last week, with exams on top of you. The sooner you decide, the easier it is to pick a collection day that suits you.
How many boxes will I need?
Most residents use between 5 and 9 boxes. A room is usually winter clothes and clothes for other seasons, books and notes, decoration and whatever doesn't fit in the suitcase. If you're unsure, count by type of thing and add one for margin: you only pay for the boxes you actually bring, at the price for your tier.
- Winter clothes and other seasons: 2-3 boxes.
- Books and study material: 1-2 boxes.
- Decoration, pictures and small items: 1 box.
- Cables, photos and keepsakes: half a box. Suitcases are stored separately (€39 for a small one, €55 for a large one).

What are my options and what do they cost?
There are four: take everything to your parents' house, leave it at a friend's, rent a storage unit or have it collected. The difference is in what doesn't show in the price: van, petrol, trips and doing it all again in September. A 1 m² storage unit costs €29-40 a month, €87 to €120 for three months, and transport is extra.
| Option | Price | What it takes from you |
|---|---|---|
| Your parents' house | Van and petrol | Loading, driving there and back and repeating it in September |
| A friend's place | Free | Depending on their space and on them not leaving for the summer; no contract |
| 1 m² storage unit | €87-1203 months, no transport | Two deliveries, loading and unloading, going to the warehouse |
| Door-to-door pickup | €2737 boxes, the whole summer | Opening the door. Insurance included and a warehouse watched 24 h |
1 m² storage unit price: MejorTrastero.
What if I change flat or residence in September?
This is the case where collection pays off most: you give us the new address and the boxes arrive there on the date you've chosen. On your return you pay nothing, except an extra if the address is different from the pick-up address and hard to reach: €20 on a 2nd or 3rd floor without a lift and €35 on a 4th or above.
If you also have to move within Madrid at the end of term, see moving in Madrid: fixed price from €349 for a studio. And for September, the back to university guide tells you the dates.

What if my residence stores it for free?
If it really does store it for you, you may not need anything else. That usually only happens if you keep your place the following year, and the centre isn't liable if something is damaged. Ask them in writing whether you keep your place, what they cover and where they leave it. With us it comes with insurance, in a warehouse watched 24 hours a day, whether you keep your place or not.
Frequently asked questions
Is the €39 monthly?
No. It's a single payment per box for the whole summer: we collect it on the day you choose and return it to you between 15 August and 30 September, for that price. A storage unit is paid every month; here, once.
Can I book without knowing the exact date?
Yes. When you book you choose an approximate collection date and delivery date; if they change, message us and we'll move them. Book at least a week before collection.
How much does it cost if I don't want to pack the boxes myself?
€49. We do them.
What if I cancel?
If you cancel up to 14 days before collection, it's free and we refund your €20.
